Not every neighbourhood in Toronto gets it’s name affixed with a “District” or a “Park” or a “Village” or a “Ville”. Some are just named after the main drag. Case in point — Mount Pleasant East. Mount Pleasant East is sandwiched between Moore Park, Leaside, Lawrence Park and the Yonge and Eglinton strip. Here, nestled beyond some of Toronto’s most exclusive northern neighbourhoods, you’ll see mature trees and multi blocks of prime real estate land. Mount Pleasant East real estate is comprised of gorgeous Toronto detached homes, stunning condos, exceptional transit options and shopping….oh the shopping. The area has a high concentration of specialty stores selling everything from cupcakes, to chocolate to delicate French pastries. Tres dangerous.

The Real Estate Scoop

If you are thinking about making Mount Pleasant East your new home then you should know that Mount Pleasant East real estate is, well, pretty damn nice. Detached 1920s brick homes sit next to new mansions, and semi-detached houses and towns and luxury condominiums fill in the gaps. Good schools (like private Sunnybrook School and Maurice Cody Public School) draw young, double-income families to live among long-time residents.

The Neighbourhood

The midtown neighbourhood of Mount Pleasant East is as posh as the graveyard to its South. Locals fill their stroller baskets with baguettes or antique finds from Mount Pleasant’s shops, while Bayview’s casual sidewalk pubs and restaurants cater to laid-back locals. If you’re a cheese lover like me then you MUST visit the Cheese Emporium. Take an easy walk East to Bayview to explore additional shops – like Mastermind to get the kids a toy – or West to the vibrant Yonge and Eglinton strip for night of dinner and dancing.

Mount Pleasant East is also a neighbourhood that many come to bury their dead. The Mount Pleasant Cemetery is the final resting place of William Lyon Mackenzie King, Egerton Ryerson, Timothy Eaton and Glenn Gould (to name but a few) and features miles of walking paths, fountains, statues and botanical gardens. It is easily one of the most peaceful and reflective places in Toronto.
